- i.e.) if your pay is out of line with your peers' pay, it's time to make an appointment with the boss

- to pay too much for everything

- i.e.) if you bought the paper you would pay through the nose; it's best you order it online and use that coupon

5. pay top dollar

- to pay a lot of money for something

- i.e.) the customer paid top dollar for the new car with all of the gadgets
