- i.e.) he beat me to wining the contract

 

3. to be hit hard by (심한 손상을 입다)

- to suffer losses due to something

- i.e.) we were all hit hard by the recent recession

 

4. to clamp down on (단속하다)

- to get strict about

- i.e.) the company added a new policy to clamp down on the abuse of overtime

 

5. to come up with

- to think of

- i.e.) I don't know who came up with the idea of a company breakfast once a month, but it sure seems like fun!
