[영단어] 하루에 5개이상 Study Challenge - 9/27/2020

항상 작심 삼일이었던 나의 게으름. 이번에는 며칠이나 지속할 수 있을지 모르겠으나, 마음먹고 나와의 약속을 한번 해보자. 매번 머릿속에서 생각만했던 것을 한번 실천해보자. 단어를 암기하고 문장내에서 어떻게 쓰이는지도 분명히 중요하다. 그냥 밑에 적기만 해놓는 것은 시간도 얼마 걸리지않고 의미가 없을 수 있다.  나의 목표는 문장으로 외우고, 반드시 사람들과 대화중 적재적소에 써먹어 볼 것. (코로나로 인한 재택근무로 비대면채널에서 시도해보는게 더 용이하지않나 싶다. 머.. 더 좋은 기회인 듯!) 

 

1. Bring up

- to mention something

- i.e.) Jay was sick and had to miss the party, so please don't bring it up. I don't want him to feel bad for missing it.

 

2. Bring on

- to cause something to happen

- i.e.) His lung cancer was brought on by years of smoking

 

3. Bring it on

- to accept a challenge with confidence

- i.e.) you want to have a race? Bring it on! I can beat you!

 

4. Call on

- to visit someone

- i.e.) I will call on you this evening to see how you are

- to use someon's knowlege

- i.e.) I may need to call on the university's excellent professors in order to answer your question.

 

5. Call off

- to cancel something

- i.e.) The business trip was called off due to the construction delay.
