1. back to basics

- to go back to thinking about the basic elements of something

- i.e.) this issue seems to have become quite complex. Let's just try to go back to basics, so that we can better understand it.

 

2. back to square one (아무 진전없이 원점으로 되돌아가는 것)

- back to the beginning of an endeavor

- i.e.) everything has gone wrong with the project! We have to go back to square one

3. back to the drawing board

- after experiencing failure, it's time to start a task over from scratch

- i.e.) Ashley and her co-workers realied their first attempt at the task had been unsuccessful and they needed to go back to the drawing board

 

4. backhanded compliment

- a compliment that is really meant as an insult

- i.e.) can you believe how rude she was? she gave me such a backhanded compliment. she said that it's hard to be as beautiful as she is, and she would rather just be sweetly pretty like i am. she was definitely implying that i'm not as attractive as she is.

 

5. bad blood (불화, 악감정, 원한)

- negative feelings

- i.e.) there is quite a bit of bad blood between them now. THey used to be friends, but a lot has happened to cause anger between them
