1. hobson's choice

- a choice among bad options

- i.e.) it's a case of Hobson's choice, because if i don't agree to their terms, i'll lose my job

 

2. filp-flop

- to vacillate between two choices, to be indecisive

- i.e.) as he walked away, her stomach did a flip-flop

 

3. fish or cut-bait

- make a decision or give someone else a chance

- to stop vacillating and act on something or disengage from it

- i.e.) I want you gentlemen on the other side of the House to 'fish or cut bait'

 

4. (have one's) back against the wall

- have few choices, be cornered

- i.e.) the company has its back against the wall and if the employees do not help out now, it will be bankrupt soon

 

5. get the sack, be sacked

- to be fired

- i.e.) I was just happy to get the sack and recover the fumble
