1. a fork in the road

- a situation in which you can choose one path or another

- i.e.) i think i've reached a fork in the road here. i don't know which direction to go

 

2. a good Samaritan

- a person who helps others in need

- i.e.) Shelly was always such a good Samaritan. She always helped people in need

 

3. a hang-up (고뇌, 불안의 씨)

- something - perhaps irrational - that consistently worries you

- an emotional problem

- i.e.) Helen tended to be difficult to deal with. She had a lot of hang-ups, and it was easy to offend her

 

4. a hard nut to crack

- someone who is difficult to get to know or understand, or someone who is tricky to deal with

- i.e.) Yes, I'm enjoying my new job. my boss, though, is a hard nut to crack. I'm having difficulty in understanding what he wants

 

5. a hot potato

- an issue, probably from current events, that is causing a lot of discussion and controversy

- i.e.) the family tried to avoid bringing up political hot potatoes during the holidays
