1. a chip on your shoulder (자격지심이 강한)
- you have a grievance of some kind - or an attitude - that you won't let go of
- i.e.) have you met Max? that guy has a real chip on his shoulder. he's always a bit arrogant and on the defensive
2. a day late and a dollar short
- too little an too late
- i.e.) Elizabeth tried to hand in her assignment, but her teacher said it was a day late and a dollar short
3. a dime a dozen (흔하디 흔한)
- a very common thing or occurrence
- i.e.) shirts in that style are a dime a dozen at the local mall
4. a doozy
- something incredible, usually in a negative way
- i.e.) that storm the other day was a really doozy! I don't think I'll ever forget it. the thunder was terrible
5. a doubting Thomas
- Someone who has a very skeptical attitude and who requires to believe something
- i.e.) John is very hard to convince about anything, he always wants evidance. he's a real doubting Thomas
