1. carve out a niche

- to make/create a position in the market

- i.e.) I began by trying to carve out a niche for my new service that I was offering and developing a brand around my niche service

 

2. get something off the ground

- to start a project or business

- i.e.) in order to get my small business off the ground, I first needed to go through a log of red tape

 

3. Red tape

- means excessive rules, procedures, and regulations (usually from the goverment) that make it difficult to do business

- i.e.) sometimes there will be some legal red tape that you cannot cross unless you want to face getting reprimands, finds, or even jail time

 

4. state of the art (예술의 경지)

- something that is state of the art is modern and technologically advanced

- i.e.) Japanes capsule hotels are state of the art, they even have self cleaning toilets

 

5. go the extra mile

- do more than is necessary

- i.e.) I love working with our German suppliers, they always go the extra mile to make sure we understand everything about the product

 

6. to get ahead of the game

- try to do better than your competitors by offering better, more unique or different services

- i.e.) Apple is always ahead of the curve when it comes to their smartphone design
