[영단어] 하루에 5개이상 Study Challenge - 10/25/2020

 

1. keep one's eye on the ball

- to continue thinking about or giving attention to something important

- i.e.) keep your eye on the ball and you won't miss out

 

2. push back

- to delay something so that it happens later than planned

- i.e.) I had to push back the request to increase the effort by 20%. we are already at full capacity and we don't have room for a further increase of the workload

 

3. move forward / push forward

- when a meeting or something else, should be done sooner than planned

- i.e.) I've pushed forward the meeting to Wednesday so that Elena can attend

 

4. tackle a problem

- to deal with/confront a problem

- i.e.) it also agreed to convene a meeting of regional environment ministers to tackle the problem

 

5. get the message across (get something across)

- making sure that the person on the other end of the communication has understood the message

- i.e.) I believe today we got our message across!

- i.e.) he has no trouble getting his point across

- i.e.) we have yet to clearly get across the message that we've got this indepth set of products 

 

6. what do you make of ..... ?

- it's an idiomatic expression generally used to ask about what someone thinks about something

- i.e.) "what do you make of the new guy?" "he's a little quirky, but I think he's nice enough"

- i.e.) "what do you make of the hole here? "could be termite damage"

 

7. be on top of it!

- to be able to control a situation and deal with it successfully

- i.e.) you really have to be on top of things if you want the project to be a success
